IrisBlu Publishing began as a personal project to publish Mary Reiss Farias’s own books—and grew into a boutique publishing company dedicated to helping aspiring and established authors bring their books to life. In this post, Mary shares the story behind IrisBlu, what it offers today, and why she’s opening the doors to serve more authors with clarity, structure, and heart.
Recently, I told a friend that I run a publishing company—and she paused and asked, “What does that actually mean?”
It stopped me for a moment. Not because I didn’t have an answer—but because I realized: most people don’t know what publishing can look like today.
They only know the traditional world of agents, rejection letters, and long timelines. Or the world of “just upload it to Amazon and hope for the best.”
IrisBlu Publishing was born from something different. Something personal. Something intentional.
Let me tell you the story.
Years ago, I had an idea for a series of books about something I knew deeply: the inner and outer experience of being a gymnast. That series became Gym Rats, and I created IrisBlu Publishing to bring it to life on my own terms.
I didn’t want to wait for permission.
I didn’t want to water down the message.
I didn’t want to guess at how to format a book or navigate the publishing maze on my own.
So I learned everything I could. I wrote, I edited, I designed, I typeset. I walked the entire path from blank page to finished product—and opened the doors to something bigger in the process.
As I gained experience, my sister began writing books of her own. Naturally, she turned to me. I guided her through the same journey—clarifying her message, creating timelines, editing, publishing, and launching. I published her books under the IrisBlu banner, and something shifted.
It wasn’t just about me anymore.
IrisBlu had become a space for others to also say yes to their voice.
Not long after, I brought together a group of women to co-create a book called Discovering Something Greater—a collaborative project rooted in personal transformation, shared wisdom, and spiritual alignment.
We brainstormed, wrote, edited, and published as a team. That book changed lives—not just for the readers, but for those of us who wrote it.
It became clear: publishing is a form of empowerment.
I also wrote and published How to Study Think and Grow Rich, a practical, timeless guide for people who want to deeply study Napoleon Hill’s classic work. That project combined two of my greatest passions: books and personal growth.
It’s the same approach I bring to every publishing project now—blending mindset, structure, universal law, and strategy to help people not just publish a book, but become the author they’re here to be.
